RV Interior Repair That Comes to You

Your RV goes through things a living room never does. It sits in the summer sun, spends the winter in storage, gets damp on camping weekends, and has a family climbing in and out of the dinette all season. Sooner or later the vinyl cracks, a seam gives way, or the driver's seat starts looking tired. The good news is that most of this can be fixed right where your RV is parked, without tearing out the furniture.

We're Maximus Leather Repair, a mobile leather and vinyl repair team based in Mount Prospect, IL. We've been repairing seats and upholstery for more than 10 years in homes, cars, boats and RVs, and we bring everything we need to your driveway, storage lot or campground.

What we work on

  • Seating: dinette benches, sofas, recliners, captain's chairs, and the driver and passenger seats up front.
  • Cushions: flattened foam, sagging seat backs and cushions that have lost their shape.
  • Trim and soft parts: armrests, headrests, ceiling and wall panels, and decorative trim.
  • Tables and cabinetry: if you're redoing the whole interior, we can also restore or replace tables, cabinets and kitchen pieces.

We work with genuine leather, vinyl, leather-vinyl combinations and fabric. Small damage like a crack, a scuff or a faded seat can usually be repaired and re-colored on the spot. If a piece is too far gone, we can reupholster it or replace the panel. And if replacing it really makes more sense, we'll tell you.

Before & After: Real Repairs From Our Gallery

These photos come straight from our project gallery. They aren't all from RVs, but they show the same damage we fix in motorhomes all the time: cracked armrests, worn vinyl and split seams.

Before and after: cracked vinyl armrest in a vehicle cab, filled and color-matched
Cracked armrest. The split vinyl was filled, re-textured and color-matched to the rest of the cab.
Before and after: worn and peeling black vinyl armrest pads restored
Worn armrest pads. Peeling, rubbed-through vinyl brought back to a smooth, even finish.
Before and after: split seam on a black leather seat cushion repaired
Split seam. A torn cushion seam closed up and refinished so the repair blends in.

Common RV problems we fix

  • Sun cracking and fading. UV light through the windows and windshield dries out leather and vinyl. We fill the cracks, re-color to match and finish with a UV-protective coat.
  • Torn or split seams. Dinette cushions and sofa seams take the most strain. We close and reinforce the seam, or replace the panel if the material is too worn.
  • Flat, tired cushions. We replace the filling and restore the shape, so the seats are comfortable on long drives again.
  • Scuffs, scratches and burns. Repaired and blended in while keeping the original texture of the material.
  • Musty or smoky smells. We clean and treat the source of mildew, smoke and pet odors instead of covering them with fragrance.

How an RV Interior Repair Works

  1. Send us a few photos. Use the form or call us and describe the damage. You'll get a free, no-obligation estimate and an honest idea of what's possible.
  2. We come to your RV. We meet you wherever it's parked and check the upholstery, seams, filling and frame. That tells us whether a spot repair, a partial restoration or full reupholstering is the right call.
  3. Choose the material and color. For repairs, we custom-mix the color to match your original shade, sheen and grain. For reupholstering, you pick from leather, vinyl or fabric, and we'll help you choose something that holds up to road-trip use.
  4. The repair. Most work happens on-site. Bigger jobs, like rebuilding a frame or reupholstering a full sofa, may go back to our workshop and get reinstalled when they're done.
  5. Finish and walk-through. We seal the surface with a protective coat, show you the result and leave you with simple care tips.

Want something different from what the factory gave you? We can also change upholstery colors, reshape seating, add armrests or build in extra storage.

Why RV Owners Call Us

  • We come to you. No pulling seats out or driving to a shop, which matters if you live in your RV or you're between trips.
  • Repair before replace. New RV furniture is expensive and has to be fitted to your model. Repairing what you have usually costs much less and keeps the original look.
  • Colors that actually match. We mix the colorant for your interior, so repairs blend in instead of standing out.
  • Straight answers. Free estimates, a clear timeline, and an honest call if something isn't worth fixing.

Where We Work

We're based in Mount Prospect and travel to RV owners across Chicago and the suburbs, including Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Glenview, Naperville, Aurora and Waukegan.

We also serve RV owners in southeastern Wisconsin, including Kenosha and Milwaukee.

The best time to book is before camping season starts, so your RV is ready when you are. Send us a request or call (224) 833-4909 and we'll find a time that works for you.

FAQ

RV & Motorhome Repair: Common Questions

Can you come to where my RV is stored?

Yes. Our service is mobile, so we can work at your home, a storage facility or a campground within our service area.

Do you repair vinyl as well as leather?

Yes. Many RV interiors use vinyl or leather-vinyl combinations, and we repair and color-match both. We also work with fabric upholstery.

How long does an RV interior repair take?

Many seat repairs can be finished in a single visit. Bigger jobs, like reupholstering a full dinette or sofa, take longer. You'll get a clear timeline with your estimate.

How much does RV interior repair cost?

It depends on the material, how much damage there is and whether it needs a repair or full reupholstering. Send us a few photos and we'll give you a free, no-obligation estimate. Repairing is usually much cheaper than buying and fitting new RV furniture.

Will the repair match the rest of my interior?

We custom-mix colorants and choose finishes to match your original shade, sheen and grain, so the repair blends in with the surrounding surface.

Can torn vinyl be repaired, or does it need replacing?

Small tears and cracks can usually be repaired and refinished. If the material is too worn, we can replace the panel or reupholster the piece.

Can you get rid of musty or smoky smells?

Often, yes. We clean and treat the source of odors like mildew, cigarette smoke and pets instead of masking them with fragrance. Severe cases may need more than one treatment.

How do I keep my RV upholstery looking good after the repair?

Wipe seats with a soft, damp cloth every two to three weeks, condition leather regularly, close the curtains or use sun screens when parked, and watch for condensation. If a small crack shows up, get it fixed early while the repair is still minor.

Does interior restoration help resale value?

A clean, undamaged interior is one of the first things buyers notice, so restoring worn seating helps your RV present better when you sell or trade it in.
